I recently visited Anza Borrego State Park to check out the "super bloom" of desert flowers resulting from the welcome rains of this winter. And the flowers didn't disappoint!
The park and the town of Borrego Springs are also home to many fascinating metal sculptures created by Richard Breceda. He was originally a construction worker, but an injury prevented him from continuing. So he started welding realistic and fanciful creatures and placed them within the desert landscape of the town. There are over one hundred of them and they're quite amazing.
The park is about three hours south of Los Angeles and is the largest in California. The town of Borrego Springs is situated entirely within the park borders and offers lots of nice restaurants and tourist attractions.
